Create engagement

In this capsule we will give you the tools that you need to make people participate in your consultation.

Your consultation is almost ready and you’re excited! However, considering that the virtual world is very busy. You can show the most beautiful consultation possible, you need to share it with your community if you want them to participate.

 

 

Step 1: From the Conception 

Make sure to conceive accessible and attractive consultation. Even if the subjects are more complicated, they can be made into a more simple language:  This is the way you would explain it to a family member or a friend.

 

Identify the aspects, the sectors and the things it is important to receive the opinion of the community for. Sometimes, it isn’t necessary to ask about everything or it’s possible to combine some elements to make it more simple.  You may not have the option on everything but you’ll have more opinions on very important aspects. It’s even better!

Step 2 : Create Relationships 

Your online consultation usually is a part of a serie of activity that you’re doing to implicate your community. That means that it’s important to create relationships between your different engagement tools.

  • Talk about your platform in meetings or even better, put a QR code on a visual in the room. 
  • Talk about it during your media meetings (interviews, press release) 
  • Put it forward on your website

Your online consultation has to be a part of the whole environment of your consultation.

Step 3: Communicate

Prepare your communication tools as much in advance as possible and prepare a communication plan in order to use them fully and multiple times.

  • When?
      • Before you start
      • During the consultation
      • After the consultations to share the results
  • By who? Do not forget:
      • Your stakeholders will give you nice advertisements if you give them the necessary tools. 
      • Social media
      • The radio and/ or television
      • The newspaper
